Grosvenor and The Big Local South Bermondsey have teamed up to launch a course designed to help people turn their business idea into reality, as part of plans for a new employment and enterprise hub
The 8-day course runs between 2-25 November 2016: 10am – 4pm, two days a week, Wednesdays and Fridays, over four weeks. At least three further courses will run over 2017/2018, with new dates soon available for the Spring term. It will initially be based in the Community Hall at the former Peek Frean biscuit factory in Bermondsey.
Colin Crooks, Tutor and CEO of Tree Shepherd, said: “Please come along to the course. Everyone is in the same boat, so don’t worry if your business is just an idea at the moment. You’ll learn everything you need to put a basic business plan in place including sales and marketing, finance, presentation skills, people management, networking and all the nuts and bolts of registering a business. We’ve helped hundreds of people to start-up across London and we are very excited to be asked to support the creation of future businesses in Bermondsey”.
The ‘Start Your Own Enterprise’ course is delivered by specialist social enterprise, Tree Shepherd, and starts Wednesday 2 November at the former Peek Frean biscuit factory, Bermondsey
On graduating, participants will belong to a vibrant Enterprise Network and benefit from free events, business clinics, regular coaching sessions, new trade and collaborative working opportunities.
Kate Nottidge, Community Engagement Manager for Bermondsey at Grosvenor, said: “We believe that local entrepreneurship is a key ingredient of successful neighbourhoods, and see supporting skills development and training opportunities for local communities as integral to this. We are excited to be working with Tree Shepherd and Big Local South Bermondsey, and are looking forward to seeing what business ideas are proposed!”
