A Special Assembly Meeting, was held on Tuesday, 8 March 2016, in the evening, and was organised due to issues raised by the Coordinating Group. One of the issues focused on was the Regeneration and Developments currently happening and those going through planning. As well as the Section 106/Community Infrastructure Levy money raised.
While the other issue was the basic school rebuild of Sir Francis Drake Primary School, which locals have flagged up as an “Austerity Build”.
Speaking on Planning and Section 106 was, London Borough of Lewisham Planning Manager, Emma Talbot, with Pupils Placement Manager, Margaret Brightman, from the Education Department, outlining the background behind the reasoning that led to School’s rebuild.
The meeting chaired by Evelyn Ward councillor, David Michael and had one other councillor, Crada Onuegbu, present; got quite lively at some points. As many present were either not happy with the answers given or felt that the questions were deliberately being unanswered. The third councillor, Jamie Milne, was unavailable for the meeting, held at the Evelyn Community Centre in Deptford.
Another thing that can be got from the meeting is the feeling that the councillors have not been active in representing the needs and aspirations of the Ward in either of the issues or in general.
