Preview | Millwall v Nottingham Forest

2nd Round English League Cup

On Tuesday, 23rd August, championship Club, Nottingham Forest travel to the Den for the 2nd round of EFL Cup, and interesting cup tie. Unfortunately in these days most Championship & Premiership clubs do not take cup competitions seriously! Normally we hear the word rotation and players need to rest, which is frankly a con.

The Lions played Barnet in the last round and to be fair under Harris we don’t hear this rubbish about rotation thus we won 4-0. Forest played Doncaster of Division 2 and they just scrapped through. Now it would be true to say that it was their second game of the season.

Forest were allocated 1,059 tickets, as of Saturday they had sold 353 tickets. Forest boss Phillip Montainer who fielded a weakened team against Doncaster will no doubt do it again. They are currently sitting 11th in the championship and getting to the premiership is their own priority and has been for a number of years and because they have failed the managers have paid the price and got their P45’s.

On Saturday, Millwall hitman, Lee Gregory went off injured. How serious that was I do not know, so he is only possibility. Other than that I would expect Harris to pick a full strength team.

In the League Cup & the JPT Trophy, Millwall never rotated. And a win is a win which boosts confidence we took into league form and hopefully, we will do the same again this season.
