Match Report | Millwall 1-1 Bradford

3rd September 2016 | Kick off 3.00pm | Attendance 9,067

This was the first meeting between the two sides since the play off semi-final last season. According to the Boss of Bradford his side would be missing eight key players.

As for the Lions, Joe Martin was the only doubt on Friday night. Both Abdou & Ferguson were away on international duty so they may have given Harris a selection headache.

In the first half, Millwall had four good chances to take the lead; the best one being when Morison volley from about 30 yards out with ex-Lions Keeper Colin Doyle had no trouble saving it. And whilst the Lions had the chances, Bradford, were the better team in the first half, with Clarke & Law, their best players. The quick passing game of Bradford & good movement caused Millwall big problems. The Bradford winger gave Joe Martin serious grief with his pace & trickery.

Then on the 42nd minute, Clarke went on a run from the edge of his own penalty to the edge of the Millwall box and put a low cross over at pace. Lions’ defender, Byron Webster somehow got the wrong side of the ball and by trying to play it out; it got tangle up in his feet and ended up in the Millwall net.

In the second half, the Lions were the much better side. I can only conclude the Harris got stuck into them in the dressing room and it had the desired effect.

On the 49th minute after a spell of pressure from the kick off, the Lions drew level, when Joe Martin hit a low and hard shot from about 5 yards outside the box. The Bradford keeper, Doyle had no chance. Thus it was 1-1.

The last time we played Bradford they were devout disciples of the Route 1 approach but not under the current manager. It was a good football match. Each side had good spells of pressure.

Then right at the end, Marlon Romeo must have had a rush of the blood to the brain! As nearly on the corner flag at the Millwall end, the ball was played forward and he just jumped into the air and somehow he put spin on it the ball; which came down in the Millwall box right where Law got it under control! Immediately he tried to place the ball past Archer who managed to get a finger on it which directed it on the post and luckily as the ball struck the post it come straight back and Archer grabbed it.  It was at that point the referee blew for time.
