Transfer Window | January 2017

By the time this is printed, the transfer window will be open and already papers are filling up pages about possible departures and some that are due to an overactive imagination of some journo’s. I have never been a fan of the current transfer window system where we have 2 per season if I had my way there would only be one which would open July 1st and the door slam shut on July 31st and after that clubs would have to get on with it.

I can confirm that Greg Wylde will be leaving the den to go on loan until the end of the season to Northampton. Wylde moved to the den in the summer of 2016 but for whatever reason, it has not worked out. Another Lions player Parris Cowan’s-Hall is due back to the den now he has been out on loan to his old club Wycombe Wanders in his time he has had injury problems. So it will be decision time by Harris will he want Cowan’s – hall next season time will tell.

Lions keeper David Forde who had left the den last summer to go on loan to Portsmouth originally up until Jan and would be entitled to return to the den. But he will be staying at Pompey until of the season unless something dramatically goes pear shaped. In my view, I think Fordey’s time at the den has come to the end and I wish him good luck and thank him for what he has done for Millwall. Lions Boss Neil Harris has stated that he has a number of targets it goes without saying we have not been told exactly how many or who they are he reckons they we will stiff competition to sign some of them and clearly some of them will be lost. Last week I read that Lions up and coming star Aiden O’Brien is a target for Fulham, Leeds to name 2 clubs. A couple of months ago I read that West Ham would be preparing a bid for Mahlon Romeo who has been a sensation since getting into the side when the window opens. So we will wait and see if any bid arrives I am confident Mahlon will still be with us in Feb the main reason they will stay in my view is that at the moment they are regulars in the first team. They may earn more money but they need to be playing not sitting on benches.

Also, I have read that the Lions are interested in making a move for highly rated English centre back. The name of the player is Ben Heneghan who is currently at Motherwell, he left Chester who are currently in the National League apparently, he turned down a move to the EFL to sign for Motherwell. He started with Everton but never played in the first team.

In my judgement, one player that Chopper will try to sign either on loan or permanent is Jed Wallace of Wolves he was with us last season on loan and was popular with the fans and by all accounts enjoyed his time with us. This season he has rarely figured in the plans of the Wolves manager. But time will tell.
